The right to bear arms was given to Americans by our forefathers in the Bill of Rights, amendment number 2, and there it says, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." And the part, "the right of the people," does not let the government take guns from us.
When Hitler was trying to take over the world, the Swiss were forced to bear arms by their government, and they stopped Hitler from coming into Switzerland; while in Austria (a bigger country) the citizens did not bear arms. Hitler conquered them.
Guns are dangerous, but without them you're left vulnerable to thieves and murderers. If a thief came into your house and you didn't have a gun, then you would have to take the risk of sneaking up behind him with something to hit him with and bumping into something or making some other sound and getting a couple of bullet wounds, and maybe a couple of fatal ones; but if you had a gun you could probably shoot the bandit and stay unharmed. Isn't that a good way to stop a thief!
The reason we were given the right to carry guns is because the government (King George) took them, and that triggered the Revolutionary War. Other wars triggered by the confiscation of guns are the Civil War and the Alamo war. I hope we don't start a war but I do hope restrictions stop.
