Liberty Round Table

About Sunni Maravillosa...

As a child, Sunni Maravillosa wondered about people -- what makes them similar, what makes them different, and how complex people and relationships can be. She never really stopped wondering about these things, so it isn’t surprising that in college, she chose to major in psychology. Sunni earned a Ph.D. in experimental/cognitive psychology, and has taught various psychology courses in a variety of situations. She's called "the Sunni Snake" because of her typically cheerful, optimistic way of being, and her way of coiling tightly around an issue or idea that interests her. (She coils tightly around those she hugs, too!)

In addition to her "formal" education, Sunni became interested in philosophy, which led her to the freedom philosophy as presented by Rand and others. This had a dramatic effect on her life, because until learning of libertarianism, she knew she didn't fit in to most social and political pigeonholes, but thought she was essentially alone in valuing liberty and individualism. Now, although she does still occasionally teach college courses, she prefers to direct her energies toward teaching others about the value of freedom. One of her most notable projects in this area to date is her work as web mistress of the Liberty Round Table, an organization dedicated to the elimination of institutionalized aggression.

Sunni writes essays on various issues in the freedom philosophy. She has contributed to The Libertarian Enterprise, the Liberty Round Table, Laissez Faire City Times, Sierra Times, JPFO, and KeepandBearArms.com, among others. She's also working on several book projects which blend her psychology background and love of freedom, and is the publisher of Doing Freedom! 'zine. Sunni is comfortable with public speaking and is happy to speak before audiences on a number of liberty-related issues.

In her personal life, Sunni practices what she teaches by avoiding using government institutions as much as possible. She enjoys rock climbing, camping, rock music, hiking, rock collecting, skiing, cooking (but not cooking rocks ;-), shooting, and discovering things with her children. You can contact her at sunni@free-market.net, or by snail mail care of the Liberty Round Table at 325 Front St., #254, Evanston, WY 82930.
